At 11.30 am this morning the combine moved into our wheat field. By 5.45 pm Arturo was checking the fill level on the last load that was moved into our third 20 ton bin, making a total of 60 tons stored on the farm. There is still almost another 20 tons to harvest in the field. A truck will arrive early tomorrow morning to take the rest to Colusa Milling where it will be cleaned and bagged into 50 lb bags for us to sell at the market and to bakeries.
the harvest went well despite having to rig up some cardboard shields to make sure all the grain went to to feed bucket of the auger. Once we have finished the harvest on Saturday I will have some time to put a quick rough cut video on our youtube channel. Now its time for a bath and a beer!
