Strawberries: These berries were just picked on Wednesday morning and should be eaten within a day or two. Keep them in the fridge to maintain freshness. Please return the baskets to your delivery site so they can be reused. Enjoy! Basil: It is a succulent, oh-so-aromatic herb that adds depth to many a dish! Keep your basil in a plastic bag in the fridge and use soon. If you can’t use it all this week, we suggest making pesto and freezing it for later.

Cherry Tomatoes: Enjoy this colorful mix of heirloom cherry tomatoes! These delicious candy-like treats are a welcome addition to any green salad, pasta salad, or as a quick snack. Do not store them in fridge; keep on them on the counter to maintain great flavor and texture.

Roma, Shady Lady or Early Girl Tomatoes: They are making there debut this week as the first of the season!  These tomatoes are perfect for sauces and salsas. Always store tomatoes on the counter, as putting them in the fridge will change their texture and flavor. Wash well before eating and enjoy!

Middle Eastern Cucumbers: These cucumbers boast a slightly nutty flavor and an edible skin. There’s no need to peel these cucurbits! They are refreshing in a salad or with a little lime, yogurt, and chile. These are not waxed like store-bought cucumbers and may keep better wrapped in plastic in the fridge. Wash before eating. Delicious!

Mixed Lettuce: Enjoy these fresh greens for salads and sandwiches! It is a mix of green-leaf, red-leaf and Romaine lettuces. Store in plastic bag in fridge and wash well before consuming.

Plums: Our orchard had a rough time this year with late season rain in the spring, but a few of the plum trees fruited, and we wanted to share them with you!  To further ripen plums, if slightly firm, store in paper bag on the counter for a day or so. Store ripe fruit in fridge and wash before consuming. Enjoy!

Italian Flat-Leaf Parsley: Its beautifully clean, crisp flavor adds depth to many a dish! Store in a plastic bag in the fridge. If you can’t use it right away, try freezing it in a Ziploc bag for making veggie stock.

Zucchini: With a delicate flavor, these summer squash can be quickly sautéed or steamed with just a touch of oil or butter and some fresh herbs. It also goes well shredded in a salad or baked into bread.  Stores best in plastic bag in fridge and wash before eating.

Wakefield Cabbage: Nigel claims that this variety of cabbage is the sweetest he has ever eaten! It’s a British variety and has a cute little pointed head. You can eat it just like you would any other cabbage (in slaws, salads, sautés, soups, etc). Store in fridge.

White Spring Onions: This is the “year of the onion” at Eatwell, remember? Enjoy these young onions raw in coleslaw or add them to omelets, soups, curries, and stir-fries for a milder onion flavor. Be sure to use the green parts, too! Wash them well and remove bottom quarter-inch before consuming.

Colorado Rose Potatoes: These red-skinned potatoes have an absolutely delicious flavor. Try them roasted with rosemary salt or in a delectable potato salad. They work very well in any red potato recipe. Store in fridge for best keeping and eat the skin for most nutrients! Wash before eating.
