To make sure we have peaches and nectarines every week in the summer, we grow twelve varieties of each. All of these do not bloom at the same time in the spring, which can be a good thing.  If the farm receives heavy rain this month, only the peach and nectarine trees in bloom would be damaged, as opposed to the entire orchard. The trees will then have a chance of setting fruit when the sun shines after a storm. Ideally, we would like to have no rain during blossom time, just warm days to encourage the bees to come into the orchard and pollinate the flowers.
