Fall Garden Planting
Last Friday we had a large delivery of organic plants from Headstart Nursery in Gilroy. We provide the seed and Mike at Headstart grows the plants for us. The weather in Gilroy is much kinder for these fall plants. They also have much better greenhouses than us. What makes a great greenhouse? Climate control-they have fans that act like giant swamp coolers. The plants are still in their growing trays so we just unload them into our shade house. We then have the flexibility to plant when we can.
Last Saturday we planted onions first. These will be for harvest as large green bunches in December and January. There are cauliflowers, Fennel, Lettuce, Broccoli, Chard and more.
