This is a Lady Bug larvae. In a day or so a beautiful lady bug will emerge and eat thousands of aphids and or scale insects. They are very much our friend on the farm. Their population rises and falls with the aphid populations. Sometimes we see aphids and it takes longer than we would like for the lady bugs to catch up and do their duty. In the winter lady bugs head for the hills and the aphids can have field day.
