This is a tricky crop to grow. We sow the seed in late November. It germinates and grows very slowly until the middle of February. Then it takes off. The problem in the past is that we have sown the crops too thickly. They then struggle for nutrients, which are hard to come by when the soil is still cold. This year Roberto and I sowed only about half the amount of seed as normal. We hope this will allow the plants that are there to grow and thrive.
