A few weeks back, Nigel wrote about potatoes flowering.  This week we have the first in the box.  New potatoes, fresh out of the field, are some of our absolute favorite treats.  The flavor is incredible and all you really need to do is gently steam and enjoy with salt and butter.  Nigel has taught me the difference between a true New Potato and that is the fact they have not really developed a skin yet.  We only get the real delicate ones for a couple of weeks.  Nigel taught me to soak them to loosen the mud, never scrub hard, and gently clean them. If you gently steam up a potful, throw on some butter, then sprinkle with good salt, I am sure if you will agree with Nigel, there is almost nothing in the world better!
