Lambs born this morning

Spring has sprung on the farm with twin lambs born this morning on the farm. The sheep are here as part of s partnership with a young farmer, aptly named Jeremy Shepard.

Jeremy has sheep and we have pasture and cover crops. These lambs born at Eatwell Farm will eat these crops and fertilize our pasture all summer. Come time gor processing we will sell the lamb. This enables Jeremy to take care of his sheep and not have to spend time away at farmers markets. This helps young farmers get established, build equity without having to sink huge amounts of money into land. He owns the electric fence and the sheep so at anytime if he so wishes he can move on. We work out the money for the finished product so everyone is happy.   Our customers get to enjoy lamb raised on their farm and we get to save diesel we would otherwise use to mow the pastures and cover crops.

Lorraine and I see partnerships like this as a great way for us to expand what the farm produces and more importantly give young farmers a great stepping stone.

As always your comments are appreciated. If you would like to join us in our journey to a farm that is way beyond organic just let us know.
