In Lavender season it's always one or the other question that we get asked: "how do I best dry my lavender?" OR "How do I keep my lavender fresh?"

The answers to both of these questions are pretty straightforward actually and will make a world of difference.

To keep lavender fresh as long as possible, you'll want to put the stems in about 3/4" to 1" lemon or lime soda and store in your refrigerator or a similarly cool place. The sugar in the soda will feed the plant and the slight acidity will help keep it clean. Doing this and changing the water daily will help you get the absolute most out of your fresh lavender this season.

To best dry lavender avoid putting the stems in any water and bind and hang them upside-down as soon as possible. If you're planning on drying fresh lavender, you'll want to start the process as soon as possible, to keep the upright and perky form as well as fragrance intact.
