Light Cultivation

IMG_1478.JPG The soil is drying out and we want to plant lots of seeds. We have to be careful not to bring cold, wet soil to the surface so we gently cultivate the top inch. We do this with a spring tine harrow that we constructed many years ago. The rollers on the back help crumble the soil. Setting the depth and the speed of the tractor just right takes some skill. Ramon, Roberto and I worked on this last Friday morning. We will cultivate many times, just a little deeper each time so that later this week we can plant more seed.
