IMG_1418.JPG Short back and sides, always. I am often asked how to cut lavender. You often see in gardens bushes that have opened up with the lavender falling all over the place. My advise is to cut as short as you dare then another couple of inches. We cut so that there is just an inch or so of leaf above the bare stem. I think these needed to have been kept shorter. Keeping the plants ‘tight’ increase the useful life. We need nice long stem of lavender for our bunches so that these plants will have a useful life of about five years. Our next planting this fall will have the plants keep very tightly to the ground and spaced much closer together. Lavender harvest time is June so make a date to come to the Farms Solstice party where you will be able to pick yourself a bunch.
