Soaking up the rain
The rain has arrived and we need it. These early winter rains are much more preferable to the late spring rains which cause havoc to our spring planting program and our fruit blossom. Yesterday I drove the tractor while Roberto and Ramon planted peas and fava beans. The soil was too wet to plant with our vegetable seeder. This planting sled has a knife and a tube down which we drop the seed. We planted an acre total.
The field where the wheat was to be planted was also just too wet. We cannot plant valuable seed in poor conditions. We needed another day with sunshine and a breeze. There is still plenty of time to get the crop in before January.
