Strawberries: These berries were just picked on Tuesday morning and should be eaten within a day or two. Keep them in the fridge to maintain freshness. Please return the baskets to your delivery site so they can be reused. Enjoy! Cherries: These gorgeous cherries are from our very own orchard! Put them in the fridge right away to keep them fresh, and wash them with cold water just before eating. What a treat!

Basil: We are including basil tips in your box! To encourage outward growth of the basil plants, the crew trimmed them. Hopefully this week there won’t be any wind on Thursday, and the crew can finally put the cover over the basil, which will promote growth. Keep your basil in a plastic bag in the fridge and use soon. If you can’t use it all this week, we suggest making pesto and freezing it for later.

Mixed Lettuce: This week you will receive red-leaf, green-leaf or Romaine lettuce. Enjoy these fresh greens for salads and sandwiches! It is fairly delicate and will need to be eaten soon. Store in plastic bag in fridge and wash well before consuming.

Italian Flat-Leaf Parsley: Its beautifully clean, crisp flavor adds depth to many a dish! Store in a plastic bag in the fridge and use rather quickly.

Chard: These big, beautiful leaves are mighty tasty! Remove the leaves from the stems, but make sure to eat the stems too. The stems will need to be cooked a little longer than the leaves. Store in a plastic bag in the fridge and wash well before using.

Summer Squash: With a delicate flavor, these zucchini can be quickly sautéed or steamed with just a touch of oil or butter and some fresh herbs. It also goes well shredded in a salad or baked into bread.  Stores best in plastic bag in fridge and wash before eating.

Red Russian Kale: This beautifully ruffled leafy green is full of calcium and iron and will turn bright green when perfectly cooked. Slice leaves from stems and store in plastic bag in fridge.  Wash before eating and enjoy.

Beets: These beautiful root veggies have a deep crimson color. Don’t forget to eat the greens, too — they’re extremely good for you! Store roots separately from greens. Keep both in crisper in fridge and eat greens just like you would chard!

Maturing Garlic: This was green garlic, but it is maturing. You might receive smaller bulbs with green stalks or larger bulbs with rather dry stalks. It still has a milder and less bitter bite than garlic cloves and sweetens when cooked. Store in fridge. Delicious!

Wakefield Cabbage: Nigel claims that this variety of cabbage is the sweetest he has ever eaten! It’s a British variety and has a cute little pointed head. You can eat it just like you would any other cabbage (in slaws, salads, sautés, soups, etc). Store in fridge.

Colorado Rose Potatoes: These red-skinned potatoes have an absolutely delicious flavor. Try them roasted with rosemary or in a delectable potato salad. They work very well in any red potato recipe. Store in fridge for best keeping and eat the skin for most nutrients! Wash before eating.
