Waiting for Warm Soil

Roberto and Ramon have been busy preparing more beds to plant. For the late spring crops of lettuce, spinach, etc. they will do just fine. The first summer plantings of squash, cucumbers, melons and basil need warmer beds to tuck the seeds into. Remember we do not use chemicals to protect the seed from soil diseases, so our seeds have to jump out of the ground in perfect conditions. So we will wait, maybe only until the end of the week. Better to wait and have good germination than sow expensive seed and germinate half a crop.
