The weather and the soil were perfect last Friday and Saturday morning for planting potatoes. It is a nice feeling to get the potato crop in the ground so early in the season. An early planting was normal for us until the last five years or so when we had to wait to dig the first potatoes until mid-to-late May. Our planting sled is very simple and versatile; it can be used for many crops. We have a special chisel made with a tube welded directly behind it. To plant, we drop the seed potato into the tube and then place it about four inches deep in the bed.
