Destination Turlock! At 10 am I will be on the road heading down I99 on my way to pick up sweet potato plants. This is a yearly pilgrimage. I will pick up for five other local farms also. We will be buying the plants from Chris Estrada. He has been my sweet potato contact for many years now. This year, like last, we have been unable to get organic slips. CCOF has approved our purchase of non organic plants as none are available this year due to the cool spring. There are one thousand plants in each box. They count the first box, weigh it and then just weigh boxes. I will be collecting 65,000 plants, 13,000 of which are for our farm.
