Last Friday Jose and I checked out the emerging potato plants. Like last year the crop went in late due to late Spring rains. This field was in pasture last year with chickens so it will be fertile. Potatoes like cool, growing conditions so if it is hot and the melons are happy then the potatoes will not be.

For me the potato is a crop that you can really taste that it was organically grown. We are hoping to harvest the early variety ( Desiree ) in late June.
