Coming Soon... Strawberries
The time for relentless strawberries in your box is not far away. The rain and cold have kept the crop in a fairly dormant state but the sunshine this week is working wonders. Even so there are some early berries which are still small and green. I suspect that there are damaged from the rain and we will not be able to pick them. There are more flowers in bloom. From flowering to harvest is about three weeks in good weather, four to five weeks at the beginning of the season. The hoops are in place to cover with shade cloth to stop the fruit and plants cooking should the weather turn very hot.
Make a date to come to one of our strawberry days in May. These are our most popular events so sign up as soon as Liz puts up the evite as they fill up fast.
