PB050008.JPG One of the great joys in farming for me is that I get to experiment. Failures, of which I have had many, are just a part of the routine. They always point the way to better farming and sometimes we are amazed when an idea works. With this in mind I suggested to Jose that we try planting fava beans then planting pasture over it. Hopefully the favas will crop in the spring and the pasture will grow under it. Once the beans are finished we will mow them and  have pasture for the chickens to enjoy all summer.  He is now getting accustomed to my crazy ideas and said 'lets try it'. He did not give me that 'you are crazy look'.  I was surprised, I will have to think of  stranger things to try.
