We had to replace one of our pumps, not engines that drive them, this week as it was worn out. Unfortunately the wrong connecting ring between the pump and the engine arrived with it. Fernando and I dashed down to Aims Pumps on 4th street in Berkeley to get the correct one. The rush? We had 50,000 plants arrive on Thursday night, broccoli, parsley, cauliflower, cabbage and kohlrabi. We had the pump running by 1.30pm. We need lots of water for newly planted crops normally but when temperatures are forecast to go over 100 by Monday!..
