As a winter staple leeks are a popular item in our boxes after October. The seed is sown in March for the first planting at the end of June. We plant three times, a month apart to make sure that we have leeks for late fall, mid winter and early spring. The plants are grown for us by Headstart Nursery in Gilroy. Our order is combined with five other organic farms in our area and we all agree on the same two varieties. In this way we can save money and have great plants.
