These beds of cabbage, broccoli, and lettuce were planted at the beginning of August. While we still have plenty of time with our summer crops our focus now is on making sure we have great boxes for the fall. We are actively preparing beds and sowing seeds. Last week we planted five different spinach varieties and lettuce. Why five? Two were hot summer varieties and the other three were fall varieties so if it remains hot we will have beds to pick and if it cools down and we ahave an early fall we will have spinach to pick. I suppose you could call it my insurance policy.
