P8150029.JPG This afternoon I will be heading down I99 to Turlock. There I will pick up 18 boxes (1,500 per box) of frozen Strawberry plants. We will plant these on 1 acre of beds starting Friday morning. The plants were harvested in January while dormant, as soon as we plant them they will burst into life. This fall they will put down lots of roots so that they can fruit heavily next spring.

The cool spring and summer that we are having has meant that this years crop continues to produce an amazing amount and quality of berries. After the farm walk last Sunday members picked part of the field that was not needed for last weeks box.

Any over ripe berries go to make juice for Lorraine's strawberry softers that she sells at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturdays. They taste delicious, please stop by say hello and taste test for yourself. We will also have samples to taste at our beer launch next Tuesday 24th at Thirsty Bear.
