As most of you know, Molly is leaving Eatwell Farm after several years as your CSA Manager. It is certainly a pleasure to learn the ropes from her and introduce myself to all of you. I am thrilled to be the newest member of this amazing team at Eatwell. After just a week here I can see how dedicated this crew is to providing quality food and excellent service. They have welcomed me with open arms and it already feels like I’m in the right place. Last fall, I transplanted from Austin, TX to the Sacramento Valley when my partner began graduate studies at UCDavis. I’m not entirely new to California, however. I spent the first few years of my life living in Monterey County. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are picking strawberries from the fields in Salinas and watching in awe as my mom turned them into jam and fruit leather. California has always had a special place in my heart and I knew I would call this place home again someday.
Being involved in the local food community is one of the most enriching experiences I’ve been a part of. After graduating from college, my partner and I became the proud owners of a small pecan farm in Central Texas that produces some of the best tasting pecans around. Okay, I may be a little biased, but others will agree. We sold our tasty goods at the local farmer’s market and seized the opportunity to delve right into the local food movement. What a satisfying feeling to provide quality food to your community and the joy it brings to the local consumer is priceless. It makes all the hard work worth it!
I have two “children”—Sam, a big, fluffy ragdoll cat with a great big personality to match and Abby, a sweet and loving golden retriever who never stops smiling. Other things I love include getting my hands dirty, trying new recipes, reading anything and everything, exploring new places, swimming in crystal clear rivers, a good sunset, the first blossom of spring, tiny insects, and the sound of the wind. I also enjoy volunteering with International House Davis and am training to be a yoga instructor.
Thank you all for supporting Eatwell Farm and making it what it is today. It is your support of small family farms that makes it possible to have access to amazingly fresh, local, and seasonal foods. I look forward to getting to know you all and serving you in the future!
