Bing is the brother of our first guard dog Sadie. He is huge but not a lover of cherries. John was showing me the Black Tartarian cherries he picked this morning for our boxes this week. They have softer skins that most varieties so have come through the rain showers that have dogged cherry growers over the past few weeks. They are not liked by the wholesale trade because they do not hold up well to long transportation. Our trip is from Stockton the the farm and then on to you.

John picked for us what is called a straight run... meaning everything that came off the tree. In this way he does not have to spend money sorting them. We get them for a better price and pas that on to you with more in your box. We will remove any obviously bad cherries as we pack them into baskets on Tuesday and Wednesday.
