Last Wednesday afternoon (19th), we watched rain clouds move slowly toward us...and then it hailed! Luckily for us, the largest hail hit fields north of us. The strawberries suffered some damage, particularly the ones that were beginning to ripen.
The result is that we do not have enough good berries in the field for this Sunday's Strawberry Day. We have canceled the event for this week. Those of you who were signed up will have already received an email. We have opened up an extra weekend at the end of May. Please follow the link on the Strawberry flier to sign up for the new day or any other that has space.
The rain now seems to have abated, at least for the next ten days. Once the fields dry up we will prepare beds and plant more crops for the late spring and summer.
