Spring Spinach

P2150002

We are lucky to have this spinach. It was sown back in November. In December we had a very cold period of four days when temperatures slipped to 24 F. We sprinkled the citrus with water to keep them alive. Some of our fellow farms in the Capay valley saw the temperature fall to 10 F on their farms. At that temperature small seedlings of spinach, lettuce and many other vegetables are just toast. We all rely on late fall plantings to provide for our boxes in March. They are now very short for their boxes. We look forward to helping supply these farms with this great spinach.

We can only survive as small farmers if we stick together and help each other in times of need. They have done it for us and we will be there for them.
