These are our summer brooding tanks. Each one can hold up to 150 chicks for three weeks. The wire mesh is too keep cats out.
Last Thursday we had these meat bird chicks arrive from the Mid West via Priority Mail. In Three weeks they will move onto a field of alfalfa in chicken tractors. There they will live until the end of September when they will be heavy enough to slaughter. This will coincide with the right time for the Turken chickens we started in July. Having both birds available at the same time we hope to gauge what is the best type to raise to keep our customers happy.
