There are three sets of brushes on this pipe and their job was to clean the slots in our well casings where the water enters the well. they work just like a bottle brush except 150 to 250 feet below the ground on the end of this steel pipe. A crane lifts and lowers the brushes to clean all the debris and rust on the pipe. This will increase the amount of water entering the well. Once clean the well was repaired by lowering a new 10" diameter steel tube lining down to 140'. There are holes in the original lining down to 120'. Concrete was then poured between the two linings sealing the holes. This should give us a nearly new well that we hope will be problem free for another 2 years. Drilling a new well would cost almost $100,000, the cost of this repair is around $16,000.
