Planting Peppers for Fall Harvest.
We planted peppers and eggplant in April and now a second batch. As the picking season here is so long one planting is not enough so we make two. The plants are grown for us by Headstart Nursery in Watsonville. They produce organic plants for many farms around here. Growing young plants in greenhouses is not difficult if you have all the conditions right for the plants. What is difficult for us is combining this with all the other demands here on the farm. Our new greenhouse that is part of the event garden will make growing all our own plants much easier in the future.
We have three types of peppers, ancho, gypsy and bells. These should give us a nice addition to your fall boxes well into October.
