Each time a flock vacates a chicken house we bring it back to the farm yard and give it some love.
Fernando and Agustin clean it with the pressure washer after removing all the droppings. We then repair any items needing attention. The roosts are removed as we brood the next batch of chicks in the house. These would get in the way but are returned once the chicks are six weeks old. The house is then given a new lick of paint inside an out.
All this cleaning and painting is done to remove any chance of a carryover of disease.
This house is the first to have the reflective roof insulation installed. This works by reflecting the radiant heat of the sun away from the chickens. In the winter the heat radiated by the birds will be reflected back into the house keeping them just that little bit warmer.
