We are leasing and adjacent 40 acres from the Erwin Family in Dixon. Gary Erwin has been expanding his bee operation on the farm. More colonies have been arriving by the week. Bees are essential to food production and having so many hives on the farm is a great asset.
Compost is a vital part of our fertility program. Ours comes from a facility just south of Dixon, Jepson Prairie Organics. This compost is delivered to us in 50 cubic yard loads. It is made from food waste collected from homes and businesses in San Francisco and Oakland. As plants also need lots of Calcium we have with each ten cubic yard 1 ton of limestone mixed into it.
