Strawberry Field

P4130045
Last May the wind picked up so did the temperature, the reached 30 mph and 100F respectively. It lasted for over two days and the result was many dried out strawberries and some very crispy plants. We had to cancel the next two strawberry days for our members.
This year we are making an effort to mitigate the potential wind and heat. We are using shade cloth that we normally put over vegetable seedlings we sow in August. We hope this will break the force of the wind and heat combination enough to save the Strawberries. Last year our plants did recover and kept on producing well into July.
