Roberto was making the final pass on the beds for the tomatoes last Thursday. It was too windy to plant on Friday and Saturday. On Monday we finally got a chance to plant. Twenty two beds were planted, just over one acre. We irrigated them in well even though rain was forecast for Tuesday. April showers can be an unreliable irrigation source. There are more tomato plants in the greenhouse which will be planted at the end of the month. It is said by local farmers that for every day you plant after April first you delay harvest by one day. We were 6 days late but when it is windy and cold at night there is no real benefit of having the tomato plants in the field, just more danger of losing them.
