Just one day old now this chick is one of 600 that arrived on the farm directly from the hatchery in Davis yesterday. Pretty cute and lively. Every six months we retire a flock, clean house and set up the brooders to raise the next flock. They start laying after four months and two years later they retire themselves. Retirement for chickens means going to slaughter and sold for great pasture raised chicken stock.
