Pruning The Orchard
Pruning a fruit tree is essential to keep is producing well and healthy. We prune to remove dead or diseased wood. We need to keep the center of the tree open to let in light and air. We need to stimulate new growth on which the following years fruit will bear. Finally we cannot let the tree get too big as we can only use 12ft ladders to pick the fruit. Above this height our workers compensation rates increases dramatically.
The pruning's are left in the middle of the row. When the soil conditions allow Roberto will drive the tractor down the row and shred them.
