Pumping Water

PB170014

Growing so many acres of fruit and vegetables takes a great deal of water. We use sprinklers, drip and furrow irrigation. This is a diesel engine driving a Berkely water pump. The water enters the pump via the green flexible pipe. The ouptput empties into the white pipe. The output water also cools the engine via the heat exchanger. The engine has no radiator and no fan which saves about 15% of the power of the engine.
This engine starts on diesel fuel, the right tank on pallets, and then when it is all warm we switch over to pure vegetable oil, left tank. The pump runs about 4 days and nights a week in the summer. This saves us a great deal of diesel fuel.
