Fernando is holding a special mix of cover crop seed that I made last week before the rain started to fall. I took all the old seed I had of peas, beans, spinach, triticale, and some of our wheat we harvest this year. To this I added nitrogen fixing bacteria and a mix of beneficial flower and herb seeds. It made my seed room look tidy and will be an interesting carpet in the vineyard this winter.
We had enough seed to sow a six foot wide strip between each row by hand. Roberto then brought the tractor and the roller through to firm the seed into the soil.
