This is the second year we have participated in a dry bean project with UC Davis. The hope is to try and develop varieties and methods of production for farms like ours to grow beans for our CSA boxes. We want to keep our boxes interesting, beans will help with that. They also add fertility to the soil as they are a legume. We inoculate their roots and nitrogen is fixed from the air and is available to the plants.
