The chicks do not stay small and fluffy for very long at all. They are fed an organic high protein feed which they consume in ever increasing amounts every day. On Monday Nikko took away the small mason jar drinkers we have for them when they are small and replaced them with the mid size ones. From these they will graduate to the nipple drinkers that they will use for the time they stay on the farm.
Plenty of water is very important especially when it is hot. Stress is something a chicken does not handle well, we try to avoid it where possible.
