As soon as the weather improves we hope to start construction on the fourth chicken house. We have already cut and painted most of the wood we will use. Our plan is to have five flocks of 500 birds each. They will lay for two years then the house will be cleared and cleaned. New chicks will be raised in the house so that there will always be four flocks producing and one being raised. This will give us enough eggs to supply eggs year round for over 900 members plus extra eggs March to October to sell to Rainbow, Blue Bottle Cafe and at the market. Members will always have priority over the available eggs.
