Summer Solstice & Garlic Braiding Party 2012

How would you like to go home with enough garlic for almost an entire year? Are you looking to get away from the city for a weekend and camp out on your very own farm? Well, here’s your chance! Celebrate summer with us at this year’s solstice / garlic braiding party on Saturday, June 23th at 2:00 p.m. to Sunday, June 24th  at 11:00 a.m.

Nigel will teach you how to harvest and braid your own garlic, and each person can leave with one braid of garlic for free! You will also have a chance to walk around the farm to see the summer crops and chickens and eat ripe strawberries. In the evening you are welcome to join us for a potluck dinner followed by a campout. Nigel’s twin sons, Andrew and Eric, will grill up grass-fed beef and veggie burgers. (Please e-mail us if you’d like a veggie burger.) Lorraine will provide refreshing Drinkwell Softers to accompany dinner. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. At night, we will have a campfire in our member garden. Feel free to bring your musical instruments for some entertainment around the fire!

On Sunday morning we will have breakfast for you in the earth-covered farmhouse: Eatwell eggs, delicious tortillas from Micaela’s in Woodland, along with a lot of freshly-brewed Blue Bottle coffee. We will mash a pot of tea as well (remember, Nigel is British!). After breakfast there will be a tour of the farm. We will definitely need help making breakfast and cleaning up in the morning. If you would like to lend us a hand, please send an e-mail to Ashlee at organic@eatwell.com.
