Who Are We?

Eatwell Farm is a 105-acre organic farm in the Sacramento Valley in Northern California. In 1998 we were lucky enough to be able to buy this piece of land, located three miles north of Dixon. We have been farming organically here in Northern California since 1993. All the land is certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). We grow hundreds of different crops, and usually several of each in order to allow for a constant harvest for our CSA.

Nigel was born in Leicester, England, and studied at Writtle Agricultural College in Essex. Though the school taught production farming with chemicals, Nigel received permission to fulfill his practicum at an organic farm in Kent, England. He travelled to Israel in 1985 to study drip irrigation in a country where “if you waste water it’s treason.” He returned to England and farmed there until moving to California in 1992 where he worked at Terra Firma Farm in Winters.

Eric and Andrew are Frances and Nigel’s twin sons. At thirteen years old, they love to help on the farm. Most Tuesday evenings they insist on helping to pack boxes of produce for our CSA, in part because it always means they get to stay up a little longer. They busy themselves with Little League and schoolwork from their Spanish Immersion middle school.

Our Crew is the backbone of the farm. Jose is our foreman in the field, overseeing anywhere from 7-13 crew members (depending on the season), and Roberto keeps our tractor running in the fields. Anna and Isabel wash and pack all of your produce. They also prepare the egg coolers for delivery and prepare all of our lavender products. Augustin and Jaime are the “egg guys.” They tend our huge flock of pasture-raised chickens and wash all the eggs after they gather them twice daily.  Liz is our CSA Manager, and she and Ashlee hold down the office,  answering all of your questions and tending to your orders.  Kiki is our faithful delivery driver.  We also have numerous farm cats and a guard dog named Daisy who are all important members of the team.
