Fall Planting

Early last week we were able to sow the first of the fall crops directly into the soil. To germinate the seeds we need the temperature to be lower than 90 degrees for several days. We make sure the soil is moist at all times and then as if by a miracle the seeds emerge 7 to 10 days later. After all the years, nearly 30 in my case, it still amazes me that the plants pop out of the ground. Ramon and Roberto are busy preparing beds for transplants that arrive this week. More seeds will be sown in the coming weeks when the temperatures are right.
