Winter Repairs

This is the time of the year we start to tackle those jobs that have been left for times when we are a little less busy. The big job this winter is repairing a leaking irrigation line. This is not your normal plastic pipe. It is old and made from concrete. It feeds from our well and irrigation canal into the farm main line taking water out to the field.
The trouble with concrete pipe is that you really don’t want to move or disturb it as you may cause more problems. So we are carefully digging around it to identify the leaks. We will then get one of the experts on concrete pipe repair from the irrigation district to come and do the repair. Hopefully it will be a simple repair if not we will have to dig out the whole line and replace it with plastic. We need a little luck so I expect it will be a simple and cheap repair.
